Swim Meet 101
Meet Day is very exciting! It is a chance for the swimmers to show off what they have accomplished with all their hard work, and kids as well as parents have a fun time cheering for our Hunting Creek Team! Wear PURPLE!
Items to Bring
The following items will help make your swim meet experience run well. Please try to label all your items with your child's name so lost items can be returned:
- Team suit
- Team cap (personalized caps help to identify swimmers)
- Goggles (good to have a back-up pair in case one breaks or gets lost)
- Towels
- Sunscreen
- Team gear and extra clothes (in case it is cool and rainy)
- Bag to keep belongings
- Folding/Tailgate Chair to sit in while in team tent
- Something to do while waiting (games, snacks, etc.)
- SHARPIE - this will be for writing event information (Event Number, Heat, Lane, & stroke swimming) on swimmers arm. We also ask that for younger swimmers their name be written on of their back shoulders.
Arrival and Check-In
- Arrive at least 15 minute prior to Warm-ups
- Find our team tent and find a spot to set up your child/children
- Check in with the coaches when you arrive so they know you are there to dive and/or swim
- Check the RELAY BOARDS for what relays your swimmer has been placed in
- Write their events on their arm, leg, anywhere they will be sure to see it. For the 8 & under kids, it is helpful to write their last name on their back.
During the Meet:
Swimmers must stay in the team tent/area at all times. If there is a reason they need to leave, they must let one of the tent parents/coaches know. Team tent parents/coaches have a big job rounding up swimmers in the team area, so they cannot be expected to search the pool area, snack bar, bathrooms, etc. to find swimmers.
All divers will sit on deck with their team during the meet.
